The Bible
The Holy Bible is God’s Word, born of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the only foundation of our doctrine.
God
God is one, an eternal God in three persons: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. God is the creator of heaven and earth.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God’s Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born as a man of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life teaching and performing miracles. With His death on the cross Jesus atoned for the sins of the world, rose from the dead and ascended to heaven to the right hand of the Father.
Man, the fall and salvation
God created man in His own image and for relationship with Himself, but in the fall man was separated from God. By believing in Jesus Christ man receives righteousness as a gift and is born again as a child of God.
The work of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit awakens man spiritually so that he can receive the salvation that God has prepared. This is when the Holy Spirit comes to live in him. Jesus Christ baptizes the believer with the Holy Spirit, who distributes spiritual gifts for the building of the church in the same way as during the time of the apostles. A believer is meant to live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit and bear the fruit of the Spirit.
The church
The church is the community of believers founded and led by Christ and built on the teaching of the apostles. All Christians everywhere and at all times belong to each other and to a common church, which expresses itself visibly as a local church. Jesus Christ commanded His church to make disciples of all nations, baptize them and teach them. The church forms a spiritual priesthood whose task is to serve the Lord and to show Christian love to all people.
Baptism
Baptism, instituted by Jesus, is connected to God’s work of salvation. Baptism is conducted by immersing a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, in obedience to the command of Jesus Christ. The newly baptized believer is then added to the local church.
Communion
Communion is a meal of commemoration and unity that Jesus instituted for His followers and through which He is present. Communion proclaims Jesus’ work of atonement and it is participation in His death and resurrection.
Death and resurrection
All people will experience a bodily resurrection. The righteous will rise in the resurrection of life and the godless in the resurrection of judgment.
Jesus’ return and eternity
Jesus Christ will take His church to Himself according to His promise after which He will reign over the whole world as king. God will create a new heaven and a new earth. This is the eternal portion of the righteous.
The central doctrine in the Pentecostal church is explained here as briefly as possible. The content of the confession is taken directly from the Bible but direct references to the Bible are not included because of the limited size of the text. A Pentecostal church can also join in the apostolic confession of faith.
